The Devil is in the Details

Lawyers and tailgaters alike use the phrase all the time, and your humle KT trip planners (dare i say, leaders!) are quickly learning what it means exactly.

There are as many different views on when to leave the ND-Michigan leg of our trip as there are participants. Well, maybe even more, b/c (G)abe seems to be agreeing with everyone!

One school of thought says we should leave Ann Arbor early 4th quarter to make sure we don't get snagged in traffic after game that will make us tardy for OSU/TX kickoff. This will accomodate the Buckeyes and Longhorns on the trip, but screw the Irishmen and Wolverines.

Another so-called "moderate approach" states that we should leave ND/Michigan game with 5 minutes left in 4th quarter, which will allow for more viewing of that game, but still allow us to bolt town b/f everyone else.

A hybrid approach is that we set an objectively based contingency plan for a "close" game versus a "blowout" game. For example, if either ND or Miiiiichigan is up by more than 14 with 5 minutes to go, we leave. If not, we stay till fat lady sings.

A final approach says we should stay for entire ND/Miiiiichigan game no matter the score and we get back to Cbus when we get there.

Under any scenario, the bus will be started and waiting for us at a convenient, pre-determined location.

Cbus and Ann Arbor are normally 3.5 hours apart, but traffic after a Michigan game could make that up to 4.5 hours probably worst case scenario, which would put us in C-bus just around beginning of OSU/TX game.

We're trying to accomodate everyone, but it seems that an early departure from ND game to satisfy Buckeyes on the trip is not a completely fair trade to the Domers. Wouldn't you rather miss the front end of a game than the end. It only seems what's fair is fair. But we don't want to discriminate, so let us know your views, please!

Plus, under any scenario, we're not going to have much pre-game partying in Columbus. Are partying will be on the bus and postgame High Street. As you can see, I'm leaning to a more ND friendly approach and I think the contingency plan is the best, objectively based and most accomodating plan and I vote for it. Furthermore, the earlier we leave Ann Arbor the more likelihood we'll still get snagged up in Cbus pregame traffic.

Discussion on this topic would be MUCH appreciated.

as always, save your comments re: my blog grammar, it's the substance that matters.

i vote for objective/contingency approach. 14 points or closer with 5 mintues, we stay, if anything else, we immediately leave.

Agree w/ RAM. Seems like a fair solution- but we are open to lots of discussion.

My vote is to stay til the end of the ND/scUM game.

I don't see the need to get to Columbus before kickoff. We'll be doing our tailgating in the RV/bus on the way to C-bus.

Thank you bitches.

billy ho, we're trying to democratically accomodate the Suckeyes that our helping to finance our trip, can't believe they even have jobs!

VaSlim/MOTO pass on: all those still able to stand at the end of the Miiiichigan game will be piloting the pimp bus. For all of you in Chicago last year for ND/UM game, I shall reprise "JESUS DANCE"; only if VASlim can produce some Jaeger BOMBS !

No matter what time we leave the ND/UM game, we are gonna get screwed with traffic in columbus, and will have a hell of a time trying to find a place to park. So I agree with RAM on just tryin to beat the traffic out of ann arbor. Regardless, we'll all be fucked up and won't care! I just wanna Retrieve as many Beavers as we can and see all of us get laid!!!!!
